Saturday September 12th
San Diego’s own Chickenbone Slim brings a seriously good mix of blues, roots rock, swing and Americana to the Hooleys stage. Fronted by longtime San Diego bluesman Larry “Chickenbone Slim” Teves, the band has been making music together since 2012 and has built a reputation for gritty, soulful originals, killer musicianship and live shows made for a packed dance floor.
And these aren’t your average bar-band bluesmen. Chickenbone Slim are San Diego Music Award winners, have toured throughout the U.S. and Europe, and feature acclaimed guitarist Laura Chavez — the first woman and first Hispanic artist to win the Blues Foundation’s prestigious Guitarist of the Year award.
If you like your live music with a little swagger, a lot of soul and enough groove to get you out of your seat, this is one you don’t want to miss. Grab a drink, bring some friends and come see one of San Diego’s standout blues and roots bands live at Hooleys!
Saturday September 26th
Get ready for a little California sunshine with your pint! San Diego’s own The Surf Birdz bring a high-energy mix of surf rock and classic rock to the Hooleys stage, with a setlist packed with songs you already know and love.
Performing around San Diego since 2014, The Surf Birdz have racked up more than 250 live shows and built a reputation as one of those bands that knows exactly how to get a crowd having a good time. Their songbook spans generations, with music from The Beach Boys, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Santana, Jethro Tull and plenty more.
What really sets them apart is the musicianship behind the party. All five members contribute vocals, giving them the harmonies and versatility to tackle a huge range of classic songs, while guitar, keyboards and even live flute give their set a sound you won't hear from your average cover band.
Come grab a pint, sing along to a few classics and spend the night with one of San Diego’s favorite surf and classic rock bands. The Surf Birdz are bringing the sounds of summer to Hooleys!
